Nigerian CatFish Pepper Soup


Ingredient

  • 1 whole catfish (cut and cleaned)
  • 1 teaspoon  peppersoup spice mix (ingredient below if you will like to make your own mix)
  • 1 tablespoon oil of choice
  • 1 cube maggi
  • salt (to taste)
  • stock or water (2cups)
  • utazi or bitter leaf (a pinch)

 Preparation

  1. Place cleaned fish in a pot, add in some stock or water, set the pot on medium heat. Add in the pepper soup mix, salt, maggi, oil  and utazi
  2. Cover and simmer for 25mins

Enjoy!!

What you need for pepper soup mix

Equal portions of :

  • allspice seed,
  • anise pepper,
  • anise seeds,
  • cloves,
  • coriander seeds,
  • cumin seeds,
  • dried ginger,
  • fennel seeds,
  • tamarind pulp and
  • ground pepper.

    I’m beginning to embrace the concept that I’m living in the stone age. Wait! So do they actually sell pepper soup spice mix at stores? If yes, what does it look like abeg…. twitpic a picture or send me a link to see abeg thanks

      yes ooo… they do in my local store, it’s not actually a brand or anything; just the premixed stuff in a white container. I will take a picture for you next time I am at the store.
