Suya from scratch

I visited 9jafoodie and we spent a little time trying to decide between baking something and making suya.

Suya won by a landslide (obviously). We looked up a few recipes online, made a list and went shopping.

Spices for Suya

Mixing it Up

Mixed Suya Spices

Suya Meat

Suya Meat Ready for the Oven

A few moments later…

Suya Meat

Suya!

Tasted better than we had anticipated. Must have been the 9jafoodie magic all I know is my head was sweating from the spices.

when i made this, the meat kind of wetly stuck to the spice mix, like it was soggy and not crisp like i anticipated. any solution for this? thanks!

Did you oven roast it? You can try using a fattier cut of beef, cutting your slices thinner and roasting at higher temperature.

Sasa you have your own personal suya man?! hahah you’re not easy.

LMAO! I wish! The guy’s suya is too mad! If you don’t call to book yours you won’t get any. We get my dad to call him to reserve some for us because if we “small children” call he won’t answer us! You should see the cars that park beside his place everyday.
