How to cook ASARO ( YAM PORRIDGE/PORTAGE/PORAGE)
Ingredient
- yam 1/2 medium size tuber (peeled, washed and cubed)
- palm oil (3Tbs)
- 4 sprigs spring onion (chopped) (OPTIONAL)
- 1 Tsp sugar (OPTIONAL)
- Maggi (2cubes) (Bouillon cube)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- dried fish (washed) ( approximately 1 cup or more)
- blended crayfish (2 Table spoons)
- Dried pepper (1 teaspoon)
Direction
- Add the cubed yam to a pot, pour in enough water to cover the yam. Add salt and sugar. cover and cook on medium heat for 15-20min
- uncover the pot, add dried pepper. with a wooden spoon, break the yam down by mashing a little. ( you don’t want an over-mashed yam, it should still have reasonable size lumps of yam)
- Add in the dried fish, blended crayfish and maggi. simmer for 5 mins
- Reduce heat to Min, add in the palm oil and green onions. simmer for another 10 mins
Serve with your choice of beef or chicken
